ORDER OF WORSHIP Longbranch Community Church February 7, 2010 11:00 AM Today’s Sermon: “How Much More?” Holy Communion WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE A quiet time for meditation and preparation for worship. *THE CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Grace to you and peace from the one who is and who was and who is to come, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead. People: Our God is the Alpha and the Omega, the one who is and who was and who is to come. Leader: Let us worship God. *PRAISE SONG *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart and mind and strength; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. In Your mercy forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. *WORDS OF FORGIVENESS (Leader) *THE PASSING OF THE PEACE FIRST READING FROM THE SCRIPTURES: Luke 11:1-13 PSALTER READING: Psalm 138 I give thee thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing thy praise; I bow down toward thy holy temple and give thanks to thy name for thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness; for thou hast exalted above everything thy name and thy word. On the day I called, thou didst answer me, my strength of soul thou didst increase. All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, for they have heard the words of thy mouth; And they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord. For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he knows from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou dost preserve my life; thou dost stretch out thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfil his purpose for me; thy steadfast love, O Lord, endures for ever. Do not forsake the work of thy hands. ANTHEM *READING OF THE GOSPEL Leader: This is the word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. *GLORIA PATRI A TIME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (after Children’s Story children are welcome in our Sunday school building for supervised activities) OFFERING *OFFERTORY RESPONSE (#816) We give Thee but Thine own, Whate’er the gift may be.
