People: Answer me with thy sure deliverance, O God. *PRAISE SONG *PRAYER OF PRAISE AND ADORATION (Unison) Our prayers are lifted to you, O God; you deliver your people during times of distress. You show sorrow for those who are afflicted; you rejoice with those who abound with happiness. As you caused Christ Jesus to be raised from the dead, we awaken now to your promise of new life. Your Spirit fills us with your presence as we praise you our God and comforter evermore. Amen. *THE PASSING OF THE PEACE FIRST READING FROM THE SCRIPTURES: Isaiah 55: 6-13 PSALTER READING: Psalm 65: 9-13 Thou visitest the earth and waterest it, thou greatly enrichest it; The river of God is full of water; thou providest their grain, for so thou hast prepared it. Thou waterest its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. Thou crownest the year with thy bounty; the tracks of thy chariot drip with fatness. The pastures of the wilderness drip, the hills gird themselves with joy, The meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy. -Psalm 65:9-13 ANTHEM *READING OF THE GOSPEL: Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23 Leader: This is the word of the Lord.
