ORDER OF WORSHIP Longbranch Community Church June 27, 2010 10:00 AM ORDER OF WORSHIP Today’s Guest Pastor: Rev. Robert Olmsted WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE A quiet time for meditation and preparation for worship. *THE CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Make a joyful noise, all the lands! Serve God with gladness! Come into God’s presence with singing! People: We enter your gates with thanksgiving, O God, and your courts with praise! We give you thanks and bless your name! Leader: Let us worship God. *PRAISE SONG *PRAYER OF PRAISE AND ADORATION (Unison) We lift our voices to bless you, O God; we bow down before you in humble adoration. You are honored among the hosts of heaven; your word spreads throughout the earth. We proclaim you God of all creation who sent Christ to redeem the nations. Filled with your Spirit, we sing in jubilation; we are your people and your love endures. Amen. *THE PASSING OF THE PEACE FIRST READING FROM THE SCRIPTURES: II Kings 2:1-2,6-14 Psalter Reading: Psalm 77:1-2,11-20 I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, that he may hear me. In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; In the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. I will call to mind the deeds of the Lord; yea, I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate on all thy work, and muse on thy mighty deeds. Thy way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? Thou art the God who workest wonders, who hast manifested thy might among the peoples. Thou didst with thy arm redeem thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. When the waters saw thee, O God, when the waters saw thee, they were afraid, yea, the deep trembled. The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; thy arrows flashed on every side. The crash of thy thunder was in the whirlwind; thy lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook. Thy way was through the sea, thy path through the great waters; yet thy footprints were unseen. Thou didst lead thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. ANTHEM *READING OF THE GOSPEL Leader: This is the word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. *GLORIA PATRI A TIME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (after Children’s Story, young children are welcome in our Sunday school building for supervised activities) PASTORAL PRAYER (JOYS AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION) THE LORD’S PRAYER (Unison) CHORAL RESPONSE Hear our prayer, O Lord, Hear our prayer, O Lord; Incline Thine ear to us, And grant us Thy peace.
